We publish a news site about AI regulation, so we think you are entitled to know exactly where AI sits in our own production process. This page says so plainly.
Where AI is used
We use AI tooling to monitor a large set of primary sources: regulator publication feeds, court dockets, standards bodies and official announcements. AI helps us notice that something was published and produce an initial draft summary of it.
AI is also used for routine production work: suggesting headline options, drafting summaries, and preparing images.
Where AI is not used
AI does not decide what we cover, and it does not have the final word on any published sentence. We do not publish AI output unreviewed.
We do not use AI to generate quotes, sources, statistics, case citations or any other fact. Every figure and quotation in an article comes from the source document. We do not use AI-generated images of real people, and our author photographs are photographs of real people.
Human accountability
A named human editor reviews articles before publication and is accountable for what appears here. The byline on an article is a person, not a tool, and that person answers for its accuracy.
Why we publish this
Disclosure of AI use is becoming a legal obligation in several of the regimes we cover. It would be difficult to report on that credibly while being vague about our own practice. If our approach changes, this page changes with it and we will date the change.
